Considering Adoption?

If you’re unsure about parenting and not considering abortion, adoption may be an option to explore. It’s normal to have concerns about finances, family dynamics, or future plans. Learning about adoption can help you understand whether it aligns with your personal situation and goals.

What Is Adoption?

Adoption is the legal transfer by the courts of the rights and responsibilities of parenting from a birth couple to an adoptive couple. Because it is a permanent decision, you need to ensure you understand the process, Wisconsin adoption laws, and your rights as a birth mother.

ADOPTION TYPES

There are three types of adoptions: open, semi-open, and closed adoption.

OPEN ADOPTION

Open adoption allows you to have regular contact with your child and his or her adoptive parents. You will have the opportunity to choose the family and have an open conversation with them before making your selection.
